Galop,
London’s LGBT community safety charity, is working with partners across Europe
to raise awareness of violence within lesbian
relationships.
Research has shown that members
of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities experience violence as often
as heterosexual people, however social stigma prevents this being openly
discussed and challenged.
As the
first stage in the project, Galop is seeking women who would be willing to
answer a very short survey on their views (only service questions) – so that
they can get a picture of how views in the UK compare with the rest of Europe.
Deborah Gold, Galop Chief
Executive said, “Domestic abuse is a serious problem within the lesbian,
bisexual and trans women’s communities, and Galop is delighted to be working as
part of a European project to challenge this and ensure that lesbians know where
to go to get help. This survey is a vital first step, and we’d urge women to
take three minutes to fill it in.”
The short survey can be accessed via Galop’s website www.galop.org.uk or directly at www.surveymonkey.com/s/LARS.
