Research looking into conditions for LGB youth in the USA has found that they are more likely to be stopped on suspicion of crime and face harsher penalties if convicted than their heterosexual counterparts. The statistics, which cover grades 7 to 12 in US high schools across the nation, show that non-heterosexual youth are more likey to be convicted and will face harsher sanctions than heterosexual youth, and these discrepancies are not explainable in terms of levels of illegal or anti-social activity.
