15/06/09: LGBT Youth Podcasting tour to visit five English cities this summer
The QueerPod Tour, a volunteering project funded by Vinspired, has five sessions booked across the country between June and August 2009.
The QueerPod Tour was created by freelance journalist Ray Charman. Working in partnership with queer alternative podcast station FYI Radio, the aim of the Queerpod Tour is to provide young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people with the skills and contacts to create their own podcasts and multimedia broadcasts, helping them to develop a way to get their voices heard.
The QueerPod Tour will consist of sessions with LGBT youth groups in Leeds, Hull, Coventry, Wolverhampton and Exeter, providing them with podcasting workshops, production assistance and ultimately the opportunity to create their own podcast.
Participating groups include Terrence Higgins Trust’s GYGL in Coventry (26th June); X2Y in Wolverhampton (27th June); Leeds LGBT (7th July); and X-Plore Exeter (23rd July).
The QueerPod Tour will be produced by the FYI Radio team, and facilitated by Ray Charman, with guidance from top media training consultants and podcasting experts.
The finished podcasts will be available for download from FYI Radio’s online resource.
