The BFI is looking to recruit new freelance programmers with skills and knowledge of lesbian and/or culturally diverse and/or transgender work to join the programming team for The London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. The position is part-time with flexible hours.
The programming team ensures that the festival presents a coherent programme of films and events that represents the best in contemporary LGBT filmmaking. Experience of festival, cinema or equivalent programming essential.
You will need to have two years experience of film programming either in a festival or venue context, or related film industry activity and have a knowledge of contemporary and historical world cinema specifically LGBT cinema.
In addition you will also have experience of public speaking and knowledge of contemporary and historical LGBT social and political issues.
You will be based at BFI Southbank (nearest station Waterloo).
Contract: Mid August 2008 until 9th April 2009
