Bristol Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Forum

Invites you to an Open Meeting

Challenging Homophobia
Supporting Equality in Schools

Tuesday 8th July 2007
at Council House, College Green
6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

What can the LGB communities in Bristol do to support each other and to  ensure that vital equalities education is introduced in all schools in Bristol?

The aim of the meeting is to develop an action plan for future work in Bristol to bring about the beginning of vital changes needed in society through primary education.  We want to follow up on the important work identified on 19th May at the well attended consultation the council held with the LGB communities in Bristol.  (For more information see our newsletter Outburst or www.bristol-lgb-forum.org.uk).

The agenda will be distributed on the evening but confirmed speakers include No-Outsiders and Parentline Plus.  There will be time for speakers, discussion including question and answers, plus time to network and make new friends.  Sarah and Toni will be there on the night from 6pm.

We would also like to hear of suggestions or points you would like to raise that we could research in advance.  Please head with OM Question and email to sarah@bristol-lgb-forum.org.uk

We invite all members to this meeting but we do need to know numbers.  Please contact Sarah or Toni at the office to book a place :

Invitation to Dialogue:

I would like to set up a heart-to-heart dialogue session for both LGB and non-LGB parents concerned about the teaching of sexuality in Bristol's primary schools.  The purpose is to engage in a respectful, constructive discussion, where everyone has the chance to listen and to be heard.

The session will be facilitated by Lisa Saffron and Kalsoom Bashir.  We'll set a date when we've seen how many parents want to attend.
If you are interested in participating, email me at: Lisa_saffron@compuserve.com
