Dear Schools Out!

I am writing to let you  know about Various Voices  - an exciting LGBT singing festival that will be taking place in London in 2009. The event will bring together LGBT choirs from across Europe, but will also involve workshops, master classes and a range of social activities centring on music as a medium for expression and engagement. London's prestigious SouthBank centre will host the Festival which takes place on Friday 1st- Monday 4th May 2009.

This significant event is being planned by members of the three stakeholder LGBT choirs in London: London Gay Men's Chorus, The Pink Singers and Diversity. As a member of the Planning Group one of my roles is to promote LGBT youth engagement in the festival.

So why are we contacting your group?
We are still in the planning stages of the festival but we want to arrange an event that is relevant to London's LGBT youth groups and in which they can play a key role for their own personal development. For example, we are keen for LGBT youth organizations to input into festival planning and participation, for example:
the types of workshops that would be of interest and benefit to younger members;
access to and participation in performances by LGBT groups;
development sessions for young musicians, etc.
We are contacting a number of key LGBT youth organizations to ascertain potential interest in this event.

1) Would your organizations be interested in getting involved in this exciting event?

2) I  principle, would a group leader be interested in attending a half-day forum with other youth group representatives to meet with us discuss creatively ways in which we can engage LGBT youth in this exciting event? We are truly open to suggestions for youth involvement in this event.
