However i think i know why...from about year 5 in primary schools, we get taught sex education and all those videos..of MEN AND WOMEN together...Which immediatly puts in peoples mind that same sex relationships are wrong..

Part of the reason they bully you is because they have thought that it isnt rite, when i fact it is, and theres nothing they can do about it!

So what im saying is that form year five at the latest, in primary schools there should be some sort of topic on same sex relations - so when it comes to meeting an lgbt person, its not such a shock which could lead to bullying.

Finally i just wanted to say that im really exited about joining in and helping Nige, and i think you are all wonderful!

As a Green Party activist, I ought to be against genetic engineering... but I think we should clone Elizabeth Atkinson and send her/them into every primary school to read her books!

I can't remember ever hearing a conference speaker read a children's book before. And it wasn't even the highlight of an otherwise dull conference. I don't know how we keep getting better and better.

hey jake! i'm a primary school teacher who has been doing work in school with children as young as 3 on same sex relationships! our youngest children have been learning about families where there are 2 mums or 2 dads and our older children have been learnign about the correct and only acceptable use of the words gay and lesbian. there has been some negative response by parents but the responses of the children in our school has been amazingly positive!
thanks for sharing your experiences at the moment. i'm sorry that you are being bullied. this helps us to feel strong about continuing our work despite the opposition from parents.
