Dear Colleagues

The TUC-supported project to establish an oral history archive of LGBT trade unionists is now underway and is looking to recruit volunteers to be interviewed.

The priority for this initial phase is people with experience of being LGBT trade unionists (and perhaps being involved in establishing policy and/or structures in their trade union) from the 1970s and 1980s.

The TUC is hoping to recruit a properly representative sample of individuals and will be carrying out the interviews in more than one geographical location through a team of trained interviewers.

Please could you give thought to members you know of, or circulate this message to your own networks, and in each case invite volunteers to send their name and contact details, and a very brief synopsis stating what their experience was, and in which union(s), and when, to Seth Atkin at UCU who is coordinating the project:

satkin@ucu.org.uk.

Finally, please can you ask that this is done no later than 14 March 2008.

Please do not send names to me.

Interviews are expected to take place in May and June this year.

Thanks for your support for this important project!
