Generally I like it. I like the map image and think that's really useful. just two comments on it:

i think the boxes that surround the text are a bit distracting and like the layout the way it is under a certain geographical region better than it is for "all events"

Is there going to be an actual calendar for people to see and click on like there was last year? It is a bit difficult to get a sense of when these events are happening from the list. It would also be helpful to have the calendar so people can look for events on specific dates.

Thanks for that, really useful. I have changed the boxes apart from the boxes round the individual listing page.

As for the calendar, its do able. I have changed the front page to a calendar format. See what you think. I have also adjusted the North West Region so it has the calendar available on there too, again let me know what you think.

All dates are search and displaying 2006 still at present, when the final format is ok, I will change to 2008

This is looking very good. Well done!

I would add a few points on accessibility to what I already mentioned to you about the map (higher contrast in colour, no caps, no shading under text, text always on plain background). In the rest of the page, I would avoid the use of blue on blue in the calendar (generally avoid colour with too much green or red in them too). Avoid using fonts with serifs (just select Arial, Verdena, Helvetica as the default fonts for your designs). Try not to centre justify text (align left is the best).

I'll show the page to Tony M who knows more about inclusive design than I do and let you know what he thinks.

Having looked at the lists of events, I think it would be good show some sort of location in the list. (Am not sure I am making sense).

The date format is also a little awkward. DD MM YYYY would be better I think). That's probably too complicated to change though

Nic, with regards to the date, that is coming direct from the database as that is the format that it needs. Again when everything else is sorted I will look to see if I can format it differently. I have also tried and failed to get the region to show in text as opposed to number in the two lists, all events and all events by date, that was the reason for putting the key to regions in.
Let me know what Tony M thinks, and I will change what I can. I know the map needs changing, but not at the top of the priority ladder yet!

Further access issues:
the tan colour used as background has too much red in it and won't be visible for some colour blind people.
Pictures and links should be alt tagged.
avoid using frames (the map is in one)
The page is generally not blind users friendly (Browsealoud).
let me know if you have questions about all this. It is important that we improve our track record in respect of disability has I have heard some pretty negative things about us in that regard.

The whole calendar is built round frames so that is not possible to change, all the events are seperate pages that load into the Events Frame on the right of the page.
Are you saying that we should just go with black text on white backgrounds for all of it or are there specific colours that are accessibility safe? If so can you send me a list, preferably with their Hex numbers.

I have changed the layout again, making it a bit clearer to read hopefully.
If you look at the North West Region, that is the one that is finished.
I have also sussed out the date formatting!!!
