Consultation event for the EHRC Human Rights Inquiry

The British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) invites frontline voluntary sector organisations to participate in the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s inquiry into Human Rights on Wednesday 9 July, 12noon-5pm in
What is it?
The Equality and Human Rights Commission is conducting an inquiry into the state of human rights in
- The effectiveness of the Human Rights Act in the delivery of public services;
- Whether people’s human rights are being well-protected when using public services;
- How the human rights’ values of fairness, respect and dignity are being promoted in public services.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission is particularly keen to hear the views of frontline groups on:
- Good and bad practice of human rights in public services
- The barriers and challenges of using human rights and the Human Rights Act
- The way ahead - how to take human rights forward
A cross-section of frontline organisations - especially those who would not otherwise submit evidence to this inquiry
Places are limited and priority will be given to organisations that have used human rights in their work, for example when negotiating with public authorities.
As this is an official legal inquiry, the information provided will be submitted to the Equality and Human Rights Commission and may be published in its final reports. It will not be used for any other purposes.
Who it’s not for?
- Organisations which are submitting their own evidence to the Inquiry
- Organisations which are participating in one of the regional focus groups that are being held by the Equality and Human Rights Commission in connection with the Inquiry
